The walk from Portreath to Godrevy point is very much 'a game of two halves'. You start off with a very steep climb out of Portreath to get to the headland on the western side of the town. It's well worth it though as you get a fantastic view of Portreath from up here!

Continuing Westwards, the path takes you down two steep valley's i the first mile and a half as you cross Carvannel Downs. both valleys are formed by small streams and one has a small waterfall down to the sea.

Just when you think that another climb might be the death of you, the path opens up onto the top of the Cliffs and stays this way pretty much all the way to Godrevy.

The views are impressive, especially some of the Cliffs. In the picture below, look carefully at the left side of the cliff (where it is darker coloured) and you will see rows and rows of nesting seagulls!

Around four miles of flat walking along the cliff tops brings you to Hell's Mouth. The sheer size of the cliffs here and the steepness of the sides offers the chance to watch birds swooping and gliding along almost at eye level. I spotted two Peregrine Falcons in aerial combat with some crows, Black backed Gulls gliding effortlessly on the wind and many other species of gull. There was several 'twitchers' here, so I am guessing it is an excellent place to spot seabirds and others.

The photo of Hell's Mouth below was taken to give an idea of the scale. There are two twitchers standing almost opposite on the top of the cliff.

Moving on, the path gets a little more contour to it, but nothing worse than a gentle clib or descent, before you come to the top of Navax Point, where you can see Godrevy Point, it's lighthouse and in the distance St. Ives across the bay.

As you can see, it's a gentle down hill to the Lighthouse at Godrevy point, but don't forget to take a peek down into Mutton Cove shortly before Godrevy Point, where you may be lucky enough to spot some Grey Seals (if you have eagle eyes!)

As usual, I turned round and walked back to complete the thirtieth day walking out of thirty seven. I have now completed 347.3 miles (which is more than I managed on my Remembrance Walk https://pjuckett.wixsite.com/remembrance-walk )

Only 235.4 more to go!
