Starting at Crackington Haven, means you're climbing from the off.

The picture below shows the view of the beach going back towards Devon, heading the other way is not quite as severe!

I have little to say about today's walk other than it is tough.

Stairs up and down to each combe take their toll. There are two sets of over 200, one up to High Cliff and another around the waterfall at Pentargon.

M over-riding thoughts throughout today's walk were simply "Why?" - sometimes ideas that initially seem to be good ideas turn out to terrible ones. Can I keep going for another eight weeks, covering around 60 miles a week? Not if they are all like today, when I eventually got back to the car, I hardly had the strength in my legs to depress the Clutch pedal!

A rethink of strategy and plan is needed!

Some photos to demonstrate to you, dear reader, how ridiculous today was!

High Cliff ahead, the other side has a huge flight of over 200 steps down, before you start to climb again (don't be fooled by what looks like a continuing cliff behind it in the photo!)

Gull rock. To get an idea of the scale here, between the rock and the cliff there is a fully grown seagull in flight. Of course, the hiker has to climb half the height as he walks the coast path.

Boscastle...note the steps in the foreground, a mere third of those that have been descended from the top of the headland.

Now I must rest.
